Yes, the object in front of the yogi is very likely an upakarana of Yajna. The archaeologists Vasant Shinde & Rick Willis who wrote a paper on the plates suggest he is Vishnu. The jewel on his chest is the Kaustuba. And the plant may well be the sacred tulasi (Ocimum tenuiflorum)
