With all due respect @sardesairajdeep, you are wrong about Sati. Most of Hindu India did not even practice Sati. It was a minor practice that emerged in just a few parts of India, in medieval times. Check the list of widows in the Ramayana/Mahabharata; Almost none committed Sati.https://twitter.com/sardesairajdeep/status/1056423190656962561 …

The problem with Sabarimala, is those who hv petitioned were not devotees but rather rationalists/atheists who doesn't know anything on the temple. Tradition/ritual change should come from within not from outside.
-
Real Rationalist/Atheists are much better, those who filed petition were only agent of Christoislamic. These days people like to write "Atheist" to so secularism, they don't even know why Atheism is in Sanatan Dharma. Atheism is also a practice.
-
Agree with that. Chrislamocommies have made sure heterodoxy philosophies like Charvaka system doesn't exist in our country. That's why our so called western abrahamic proponents aka "pseudo-atheists-rationalists" aren't able to accept Yoga or shun materialism.

Rajdeep and Madam Sagarika(Jisko पावन aur बावन ka difference naa pata) should be the last ones to discuss anything on Hinduism and Indian Culture. They know little more than crap and little less than shit about India. For them Indian culture started with Nehru’s birth.

@250praveen@authoramish Let's not mention names of journalists in twitter. Undeserved publicity for 3rd rate presstitutes.

Whole Sati episode was blown out of proportion by Christian missionaries to convert. I have read well researched scholarly work Sati by Historian Meenakshi Jain.
-
Meenakshi Jain is a right leaning historian therefore her research on any issue of the past cannot be without bias. And that's the problem with both left and right leaning historians they tend to write histories that suit their ideologies.
-
It doesn't matter whether she is right leaning or left leaning . She has extensively relied on the primary sources and empirical data rather than on polemics and heresy. There where hardly 100 cases of Sati. Sati had no any scriptural backing in any Vedas,Purana etc.
-
Jain said nothing new. Rammohan Roy himself said in his letters that Sati had neither scriptural backing nor prevalent much. But 100 cases is too less. There may have been many unrecorded cases. Lata Mani and others have researched on missionary propaganda before Jain

which sastra prescribes sati In fact Krishna forbids against self punishment in BG "by hurting your body you are violating The Indweller"This practice arose as a reaction to avoid getting violated by invaders during wars and was limited to few regions. Definitely not in Bengal.

Amish it's really easy for you to feel proud to be Hindu when you are Brahmin and show it off like most of the Indians in caste name. At least don't lie when you talk about history. Britishers feared the kolkata Brahmin will go nuts if the abolished sati which happened.
-
Britishers feared Bengali Brahmins so much that they let millions die of starvation in 1942-43 Bengal famine. Instead of sending emergency food shipments, PM Churchill built stockpiles for post-war Europe. Series of decisions by him during 1940-1944 led to deaths during famine.
