Keziah Daum's move to wear a Chinese dress on her prom night has sparked outrage and accusations of cultural disrespect, but where do we draw the line? https://trib.al/w99MqNq  @overingtonc

Nothing wrong with this or any other cross culture interaction done with respect. She didn't wear the dress to lessen the Chinese culture but to celebrate it.

If this is the standard then absolutely everything, everywhere is cultural appropriation, including Chinese people wearing blue jeans and white people listening to blues music. Wear it with respect, enjoy the many faceted beauty of man kind.

chinese themes were popular for a while in the 90s. It was in. I mean, they even accused kim kardashian for "cultural appropriation" for braided platinum hair... the woman is married to a black man, she has black kids, she has two sister that are married to black people..

If you're so concerned about NOT causing anymore #CulturalAppropriation then why eat cuisines that you are NOT culturally aligned with?? Why doesn't that cause the same outrage & vehemence that a dress has done? #CulturalAppropriation is nonsensical brouhaha. #KeziahDaum

Those are very small minded people. It’s only a dress, in spite of it being cultural. What can the silly fellows say to a seamstress outside of China producing their dress? They cannot stop it! Well, if that’s how all those people feel, why bother travelling to other countries?

The dress is pretty and she looked good in it. She should ignore the accusations and do it again.
