So, current record 200,000+ is just as easy to "integrate" as historical average of 70,000 Mr
@PeterDutton_MP? Lowering our immigration intake back to the sustainable long-term average level will help the government to secure a sustainable Australia:http://www.sustainableaustralia.org.au/sustainable_population_immigration_australia/ … - 1 more reply

Both are important. Population policy is a must, Aust needs to reduce population to sustainable level. It's already too high for Aust, a fragile land. Historically, Aust had less than a million for 60,000 yrs. Integration is also important, for those who are already in Aust.

There is truth to this but you should not separate one from the other. There is no point in bringing in people if there are poor prospect of them being capable of and working to integrate, and if the rest of us aren't willing to help. It's a 2 way street.

If numbers are too big, and if instracture and planning and sustainability isn't there, then we can't achieve this.

I don’t think integration is that important. Many immigrants never did. We just need some congruence between certain cultural aspects. Propensity to work hard, respect for democratic institutions (above religious), and acceptance of our approaches to male/female interaction. Etc.

As a migrant myself I politely disagree ... the future of Australia is built on a growing population - integration generally takes 2 to 3 generations .... patience I am told is a virtue; news headlines are a distraction ...
