Responding to the fear-mongering the govt puts out. But if gov't promoted possibility of growth, full-employment to build infrastructure to support migration, cultural enrichment, majority would be clamouring for it. It's all in the framing.

They haven't built the infrastructure to accommodate so many more people so fast. Ease off for a while to let things catch up. Would make housing more affordable too.

When we don't have State and Federal Governments planning well, taxing fairly (see CGT 50% discount on negatively geared investment properties) and investing in property common infrastructure (eg vandalising the NBN, not investing in public transport), this is bound to happen.
