This is Mr Howard’s usual ‘stand behind the leader’ party line. It’s based on the pragmatic principle that Turnbull has to be better than the alternative - a Shorten labour government. Mr Howard is very brave being interviewed on #theirABC.

Too bad he didn't have that view about UN collective unity when he authorised Oz to join USA & UK, without resolution from UN, to act unilaterally & illegally invade the Soveriegn nation of Iraq.

Tricky one. We relied at the time on intelligence presented by our bigger and important defence ally in the US whom it was important we supported. No doubt in hindsight all members of that coalition would have done things differently.

Perhaps they may have. It nonetheless now fact that, in addition to the unacceptable human cost in Iraq, international legal norms (such as UN pass resolution before invasion of member nations) have been dangerously undermined by those that authorised unilateral invasion of Iraq.

The UN is a good idea in theory but it can be slow to act and appeasement approaches don’t always work. It also has a Left bias in areas of climate change and other issues. UN credibility and effectiveness is gaining ground though though reforms being introduced by Nikki Haley.

Mr. Howard. You once would not say sorry to our aboriginal brethren. Out of the spotlight do you still feel that way? If so your stance never represented the likes of me..and in doing so u perpetuate same hard, recalcitrant feelings in others.
