Unfortunately, on this issue the ideology is stronger than logic and reason, and those with blind ideology are much louder and more united which makes them stronger. @theage @abcnews @politicsabc @abcmelbourne @smh @theheraldsun @TurnbullMalcolm @ScottMorrisonMP

He is absolutely right. Almost everything we have or will ever need comes from minerals and energy mining. Only a fool could dispute that.

Well feel free to invest in coal if you like, because no one else in their right mind is prepared to.

Really? Global demand for coal continues to rise. More than half the world’s electricity is generated from coal and the usuage of steel and plastics doesn’t seem to be declining.

Then put your money where your mouth is. It takes 30 years for a new plant to pay itself off, if you think coal will be relevant and solar and batteries are just a fad then go for it.

Coal is cheap, reliable and penalised. That’s why investors aren’t that interested. People looking to make money from electricity, love intermittency and government handouts - that’s where the big bucks are.

Coal is expensive, subsidised and dirty. That’s why no bank will touch it. Technology is advancing so fast with renewables almost doubling their efficiency every year. The idea of investing in 18th century coal is a dead idea and I hope our government doesn’t waste a cent on it.

World demand for coal is increasing and entire populations are coming out of poverty at a rate the we’ve never seen, because they’ve now got access to low cost reliable coal fired power stations. Just continue to delude yourself that no one wants it - it’s the Labor way 👍🏻

@TonyAbbottMHR @LaundyCraigMP You need to get the old Hazlewood plant up and running with in 6 months. Then build a new plant Need an immediate effect on consumers In conjunction with this there needs to be removal of all renewable subsidies and cancel the grid gold plating

If the self tagged ‘environmentalists’ were sincere they’d embrace Nuclear.....they don’t cause their angle is more aligned for political expedience.....so STFU and let common sense re coal etc prevail #auspol #MonashGroup
