        If Smith and the other two hadn't been caught red handed, would he have one day woken up, so wracked with guilt that he would call a press conference, break down in tears and apologise? Probably not. Getting caught makes a big difference.

        I'm not proud of him. He cheated and lied and so should be ashamed. His only redeeming act was apologising. He did what was expected. For that I am thankful that he showed more moral fortitude than any of our lying, cheating, defrauding politicians.
