@plalor I’m a cricket tragic, like most cricket lovers I was pissed about what he did. But Steve Smith is NOT a cheat . Steve Smith is a decent man who made a mistake. He didn’t commit murder! He made a mistake! The ban is too long. Australia loves you Steve Smith. Your the best!

#IStandBySteveSmith I have been horrified by Australian media and public since the beginning of this. The hypocrisy of media going on about bullying and depression and then this! Shame Australia!

@plalor Thank you again for this moving account. My evening has been littered with tears as I’ve listened and watched Cameron Bancroft and Steve Smith bare their souls. More strength and support to both as they face the months ahead....

How ironic the timing when all that time ago, another lynch mob influenced those in power. Cricket Australia has been influenced by the Aussie lynch mob. Penalty too harsh. Accept the apology and forgive.

Cricket is nowadays big business, with players paid millions in corporate sponsorship deals. Fraud in big business, if discovered, is met with more than shame and suspension. We call these guys “heroes” in Australia. Does “cheat” = “hero”? I don’t think so.

Not sure you about being proud of him. He held the most prestigious role in Australian sport and went to sleep at the wheel and embroiled Australia in a cheating controversy that will never be forgotten. Perhaps in 10 years, he may be forgiven but for now, no.

Yes, Smith’s apology was heartbreaking, but a week ago he still said he was the best man for the job, I sincerely hope he has support, but these are the consequence of actions, there must be consequences otherwise sportspeople will end up like polititions & that’s unacceptable
