The forgiveness for Smith and not for Warner - yet they were both in it up to their necks. Hmmm ...

No hugs, they’re adults and in terms of the game, they know right from wrong, they knew the risks of being caught and the damage it could do. No hugs whatsoever !
-
Unlike Warner, Smith is young and could play for Australia again. So we have a strategy of denigrating Warner so as to try and smooth Smith’s passage back into the team. Smith thought nothing of throwing Bancroft under a bus so Warner has no hope.
-
Smith did not throw Bancroft under the bus.... he could have stayed out of it and blamed it squarely on Bancroft and it would all be over.
-
And until now, Smith has a clean reputation. Not so Warner, who has a long history of poor behaviour. Pretending the latter is now a scapegoat is absurd - it’s simply his history catching up with him
-
Warner has annoyed the sporting public a lot over the years but hasn’t been as much outcry because he was winning games but this was one step too far for even winning to fix.
-
Yep. And when you treat others aggressively or disrespectfully on the way up, they will always hammer you once you’re exposed Can’t see his image ever recovering
-
He has made enough money to live comfortably. May even travel around the t20 leagues but won’t be back in aussies colours I bet

David Warner has been a toxic influence and should not have been allowed to play for Australia years ago. That CA knew this and allowed it to continue underlines their ‘win at any cost’ mentality. Smith deserved better support from the management, and that included the coach.
-
I wouldn’t go as far as ‘not allowed to play’ but certainly should not have been made VC Overall, you’ve nailed it here. Warner is a key figure in the cultural problems that have been building

Looking forward to an article in the Australian about the tragedy of locking up innocent people indefinitely in off shore detention. The mental & physical abuse these people have suffered for 5 years is a real tragedy

Wonderful article Pete, you have painted a true picture of Steve Smith the boy next door we all love. Must never forget to support our players regardless with what has occurred. CA has a legal responsibility to ensure physical & mental health wellbeing for all employees.

FFS. They’re a pack of over privileged bogans, who spend their time sledging the opposition, in what would be considered gross bullying anywhere else.
-
But this tweet isn't?
