I see @MClarke23 wouldn't rule out a comeback as Australian captain. Michael, please, you've had your time and you stepped down. The side will need to deal with this latest shamble and then move forward not backward!

@MClarke23 also said that he would be happy for the captaincy to go to any young player, even if it was their first test, as long as they weren't involved in this controversy. Other people on the panel pushed him to put up his hand, and he didn't say no. -
Underlying my point is that there are many, many others currently playing that could captain Australia. Clarke, regardless of whatever panel pressure there may or may not have been, should not be entertaining it. I'd imagine many in the side already would not want him back anyway

I don't think he was seriously entertaining it, just not ruling out saying yes if asked. I think it was clear he would prefer whatever decision is made is for the future of the game, even if it means having an inexperienced captain.
