Here's @Adam_Creighton on why uni is a waste of our time https://www.theaustralian.com.au/opinion/churning-out-lawyers-shows-a-lack-of-judgment/news-story/c97c1b4c63556b8310b3702391118164 …pic.twitter.com/UQEEHbOMLi

Another #ruperter failing to understand the value of #education, beyond the vocational aspect. The #vocational side was only a small part of my education. However #conservatives hate the thought of the hoi polloi getting an education and being able to think critically. #auspol

Those who are cashed up & pay to be educated, yet are incapable, incompetent & destructive, can be said to be hoi polloi.

Unfortunately that isn't so. The hoi polloi are those who come from the poorer echelon of society, like me. Conservatives hate that we get an education and begin to question. Education is the best inoculation against gullibility. #auspol

Poorer echelons are those who have a paucity of conscience/soul. Aust society is meant to be egalitarian, equal opportunity, land of fair go & mateship. Thus, conservatives are pro those values, pro education & skill development, pro universal healthcare, pro environment.

You have your terminology the wrong way around. Conservatives are the antithesis of what you seem to indicate they should be. #auspol

The issue isn't the tertiary sector entry per we, it's the lowering of standards to accommodate more people who otherwise would be more suited to another field.

Alternatively, one could argue the issue is our economy not producing the kind of jobs commensurate with a highly educated workforce.

Intellect, not money, ought to be the driving force & it's an equalizer. A wealthy, yet intellectually incapable person shouldn't be in a position where vast intellect is essential. Such a circumstance causes a great deal of harm to everyone.

Merit (intellectual) based entry ought to be upheld without lowering standards nor diluting nor contorting courses or fields of inquiry. Though, if a person has merit then ought to have unlimited access to tertiary education. Every advancement occurred via education.
