This shows how poor our education is nowadays. If schools and teachers concentrated more on educating and not indoctrinating, then history would teach these morons Cook is in no way associated with colonizing Australia, just with discovery. Happy Australia Day to all 😀

Bloody appalling. We need stronger laws about desecrating our monuments. Capt Cook remains the world’s greatest explorer, navigator and mapper. He respected indigenous peoples in the context of values and world views of societies of that time.

Disgusting, going after an explorer who wasn't even involved in the settlement on Jan 26. These vandals are animals and part of the whole reason we could never change the date and give into them. We need to show respect for our history and all the good that came from it.

@cook tragic Of all explorers, Captain Cook is the one to be celebrated tomorrow! So many firsts: First to write an Aboriginal Language, first to chart the East Coast, first to describe the true good life of Aborigines. The vandals might just as well have abused their fathers.

        Just...you know...Cook died 9 years before 1788.

Idiots! Those who do not know the past cannot understand the present and cannot shape the future.

But that’s the point, they are out to deny you your past. Denigrate it, all of it, that’s white, it’s male, it’s colonial, or its christian, or it’s capitalism, rewrite your history, and it’s all bad, you’re bad. And then you will accept their version of Marxism.

Well than they haven't understood Marx either I actually read a fair bit of his works to see the other side, the model of it, and what they want is "STUPIDITISM without reason" not Marxism!

If this is the level the argument has got to. #banaustraliaday no one deserves one as we are all different cultures and from different origins and don't want to offend anyone. Shame.

Not a big deal, it washes off. They still throw red paint occasionally over statues of Robespierre in France, though our protesters are probably channeling the more recent US history purges. It just proves that the demonstrative left in Australia are nothing if not derivative.
