Nah the study didn't find that and this isn't something that can be proven via a clinical study. The study fails to distinguish between spanking as a last resort, routine smacking and smacking out of frustration / rage.

Any negative reaction towards a child in frustration / anger leads to negative outcomes whether physical or not, parents seldom admit to scientists (or themselves) they hit their kids out of pure rage and that's why studies on this are not accurate.
-
I'm not saying smacking is the way to go, but I can say that no study has yet proved that smacking a child as a last resort in conjunction with other discipline techniques & positive reinforcement is ineffective. Anecdotally many report it to be very effective with great outcomes
-
Studies showing correlation between worse behaviour and smacking may just be because parents who smack their children are more prone to frustration and lashing out, thus it says more about the type of parent the child is likely to have rather than the actual impacts of smacking.
-
Also are the children misbehaving because they're being smacked, or are they just poorly behaved children initially because they're poorly parented and this behaviour has led to the parents resorting to the practice of smacking? This behaviour could then escalate regardless.

Is that arse smacking ? More like a clip around the ears or DiNozzo style back of the head.

I don't know anyone who's copped the odd smack turn into one of these 21st century snowflakes with hurt feelings!

@cooktragic Physical chastisement does work. Provided it is aqdministered properely. The reason there are so many young criminals now is becxause they have never felt phsical punishment.

What a load of crap. Smacking worked on me and my generation. It taught us two valuable lessons. Discipline and Respect for others. Something that is sadly missing in current generations brought up under this fashionable doctrine.
