Calls for legislation to compel religious leaders to report suspected child abuse even if it means breaking the sanctity of confessionhttps://trib.al/hmEXhPE

A waste of time. Do you really think an abuser of children who gratifies his or her sexual urges will seek forgiveness from a church. Get real.

No need to interfere with the sacrament of Confession. There are other ways.

I've never understood the Catholic view of confession. Apostle Paul connects forgiveness with repentance, and connects repentance with willingness to "see justice done". If one is genuinely repentant, they should be ready to face justice.

So let’s upturn 2000 years of Christian tradition, but ignore 1400 years of the most hateful Islamic tradition where women have no value and children become sexual playthings. But hey, let’s accuse the Catholics as the most vile paedophiles.

Absolutely they must report it. Australian #civil law overrides #CanonLaw as well as #ShariaLaw. You cannot have it both ways.http://www.blotreport.com/australian-politics/confessional-criminal-activity/ …

I'm against this idea for a host of reasons, but putting that aside why single out child sexual abuse as a special case that breches the sanctity of the confessional and not murder, etc etc?

Murder should be included too. What reasons are there to be against it? People will probably stop confessing to their priests, but so what? De we care if child molesters feel bad about themselves? Maybe if they’re afraid of divine judgement they’ll stop raping kids.
