Wentworth is a warning that the Coalition can’t afford to ignore, writes Niki Savvahttps://www.theaustralian.com.au/opinion/columnists/niki-savva/coalition-must-try-a-little-kindness-or-face-humiliating-election-defeat/news-story/d036d2fec54de5de42c775582c707296 …

I disagree, Wentworth was not a safe LNP seat. It is a ALP/Green leaning seat that is why they voted for Turnbull. Which is why Turnbull had to be replaced as PM. Wentworth replaced one ALP/GREEN leaning politician with another.

If there is any lesson it is to maintain strong borders, dump Paris, lower energy prices and lower taxes. LNP need to create a contrast between themselves and Shorten. Moving further to the left is suicide. The lesson - Labor lite doesn’t work.

Australians can't afford to take the fake science of CO2 driven climate change seriously & destroy the Australian economy & standard of living for no benefit whatsoever. It's time to STOP listening to inner urban leftist elites.@labor_trash @LaborFAIL @RossCameron4 @MRobertsQLD

Nikki Savva wouldn’t know her arse from her elbow hence why she thinks Wentworth is representative of mainstream Australia. Anyone outside if #theirabc knows this couldn’t be further from the truth.

It should not ignore it But it should also not ignore the view that Malcolm Turnbull was labor-lite and pale green in many of his views Not very different from Ms Phelps in many ways Wentworth is very much an outlier as an electoral division

Warringah is a very similar demographic! Reactionary/ hard right of the Lib party are kidding themselves if they think Wentworth is an isolated event. Propping up the wreckers like Kelly/ Abbott will be the party’s undoing.

Not sure about that We shall see next year Neither Wentworth nor Warringah is the equivalent of many 'battlers' electorates elsewhere ( overa million voters lost) Another factor: Warringah has consistently returned a 'hard right' candidate, not a far-left candidate like MT

Abbott 1st pref votes in 2016 - 9.2% Turnbull 1st pref votes in 2016 - 2.4% I used to vote Lib, as with many of my Lib voting friends we’re never voting Lib again in Warringah while Abbott remains. He’s wrecked, ignored & gaslighted 1 too many times.@TonyAbbottMHR

Ah yes TPP was -3.8 and victory margin 15.3% but we won't mention that will we? If you are a 'climate change believer' of the alarmist kind, why did you ever vote for TA? Agree, you should vote Labor or Greens now Did you celebrate the knifing of TA when he was a sitting PM?

I never voted for him, I couldn’t vote for a MP who doesn’t represent this electorates views. I always voted Lib senate. This is a Lib electorate, not a hard right Lib . 75% voted for same sex, that’s not hard right position! Now not voting Lib in senate either!

Ah, so you did not really vote Lib By the way, the vast majority of electorates voted for SSM Your use of 'hard-right' very disingenuous/ misleading Plenty of conservatives voted for it The only significant opposition to it was religious And the far left did NOT want the survey
