    This is frustrating. I'm struggling to come up with the right way to put it, but Google limiting access to this site is authoritarian in a way that affects people who take their health into their own hands pretty directly.

    That's what everyone _talks_ about the point of meditation being, but I finally experienced some of that for myself this past week.

    I'm not sure I can articulate how powerful meditating for several hours a day with a handful of other folks was for me, but it changed how I look at the world in some very powerful ways. I'm less afraid. I'm less afraid of being myself. I'm less attached to outcomes as well.

    And for the past year I've been going to a meditation center in SF that was offering a training and I somewhat impulsively decided that I wanted to begin teaching others so I signed up.

    Anyways, I was hooked at that point and have had a regular practice since. I've played around with a few different types, and uses sensory deprivation chambers to find some very deep states of meditation as well.

    When I tell people I meditate, one of the things they say is "oh wow, how do you sit still that long?" Well, when you do something like cure insomnia with it suddenly the prospect of sitting still for 20 minutes becomes very palatable.

    I had my first *aha* moment with meditation when I was 16. A doctor told me to try it, I did, and it cured some pretty decent insomnia I'd had for my entire life. Meditation quieted my brain down so I could simply go to sleep.
