Taken a month ago at Gluepot when I felt sorry for the birds during an extreme heatwave. I put some water out, which dozens of spiny-cheeked honeyeaters really enjoyed.

Saw this Black Kite perching at the top of a dead tree in the late afternoon sunlight while researching my Birdwatching Megaspots book at Broome Bird Observatory, Roebuck Bay in 2018. This oft maligned "common" raptor has such beauty.

This magnificent structure seen at Gluepot - that looks like a rough terracotta salad bowl - is actually a nest for white-winged choughs. About a foot in diameter. So impressive.

"My dad and I came across these superb fairy wrens singing on top of some reeds. Luckily, one hopped up onto a seed head..." Image by Martin Longford: First Prize in the Youth category of the 2019 BirdLife Australia Photography Awards.

I took this photo of a kestrel at Riverton not long before I had a close encounter (very close!) with an eastern brown snake. A bit of a heart-starter.

Harrier on the Barrier. Saw this spotted harrier along the Barrier Highway. It held some prey - a bird - but I couldn't tell what type.

I’ve been told I need to dress more sensibly if I want to engage with industry. We have and industry mixer on campus this afternoon.... So I’m wearing this, because what’s more sensible than VEGETABLES!
