@aurich Your image is misleading isn't it? The quotations around the section about street fighter in the article are completely missing from your image making it seem as if Daisuke wasn't just paraphrasing one group on the engineering team. Can you clarify?

I can't clarify because I don't understand? Anything in non italics is a direct quote on the article

Sounds to me that he is saying the graphics pipeline is expensive so it won’t be a small feat to rewind it and then fast forward within a reasonable amount of time. And since graphics are a big part of GG, that could be what his team means by “not part of the design.”

Any dynamic effects have to have rollback considered when being set up, otherwise it’s a ton of work to figure out what’s possible to keep. Especially if your draw calls are expensive. It’s possible to revamp an exisiting project for rollback but much easier to start a new one.

Very good interview! I really liked the preamble too. It kinda felt like he was dodging your first few questions a bit but maybe it was a bit of a translation issue.
