I saw the essay on the @joe4cd1 Facebook page the other day that continues to blame journalists for his election results. For personal reasons, I put off replying to it. But it's bothered me. I have some thoughts, and wanted to share them. (thread).

I had a difficult time trying to reach anyone at Google, which owns Blogger. Once I did, they concluded that Bray-Ali was impersonating me and his blogs were suspended.pic.twitter.com/wDVAKel9rU

However comments on other blogs he’d previously written under his Blogger account, incl revolting comments similar to the ones I originally reporting on for LAist, still appeared under my name. I’m less worried about it now but it was really troubling to me last year.

OMG, I had no idea! I am so profoundly sorry to hear this. How disturbing - both for the vindictiveness and for the potential to silence your important voice. I am so sorry.

Even after everything I've read, hear and said...my jaw still dropped when I read this.

So disturbing.

"The Untokening" is a movement I helped launch with other advocates of color aimed at un-tokenizing urban planning spaces to uplift voices from the margins. So he changed his infamous "ubrayj02" handle to mock that.

I get a bit overwhelmed when I sit down and think about the hours upon hours dedicated to mocking and silencing WoC.

But I am so glad you've moved on to do more amazing things
