So. The United States doesn’t get to automatically reject anyone claiming asylum at a port of entry. If you’re really into respecting immigration law, then at least understand the process. https://twitter.com/mrmiskatonic/status/981149671715491840 …

Further: the United States doesn’t get to automatically reject anyone who’s already in the country without authorization and claims asylum.

Thepublic’s misunderstanding of immigration policies and practices can partly be blamed on reporters who don’t always understand basics. I myself have been wrong many times, but some of what I’ve seen from reporters on twitter in reference to this current caravan is troubling.

Many reporters have referred to the caravan as “illegal immigrants.” The people on the caravan aren’t yet immigrants here because they’re not even in the country yet. Plus, there’s nothing illegal about claiming asylum at a port of entry when they arrive.

Replying to @aurabogado
Many are from Guatemala and in Mexico illegally.. yes they are illegal immigrants, not if the USA orgasms but of Mexico.. which happens to have a WALL/FENCE on it's border to keep it's border secure from illegal trespassers same as you letting your home locked

I know there are a lot of autocorrects here, but I’m trying to figure out what wall you’re referring to. The US-Mex wall?
