The wait for immigration reform seemed so long in 2013. It's obviously only gotten longer now, and no less complicated. People like Alejandra — people who are green card holders — are still eligible for deportation.

Unrelated: I read several stories about Alejandra, all written by men. Not one credits my original reporting (even when it's plainly obvious they took from my work). It's frustrating, especially on women's day. Give women credit where it's due. I promise it won't kill you.
