Having a story about Watts or Boyle Heights written about people who might also be gentrifying those neighborhoods always seemed off to me.

I know people were trying. I get that. But trying is different than doing. All that said, I miss the LA Weekly. And it's hard to mourn for it when the site itself is still live (and posting kinda *really bad* writing).

All valid points. I do think the editors did their best to be inclusive/diverse, but could've done better. However, hiring was all on
@VoiceMediaGroup, who once told a colleague of mine that she should have a "migrant worker mentality to work for them." They're despicable. -
I'm sure that sentiment was well-intentioned but... kind of offensive. Some of us have actually migrant workers in our families and I think there's a really big difference.
