Several people have noted that this Dodgers team is less diverse than it has been in recent years, and less diverse than LA.

Interesting, given that Kevin Baxter wrote an article about the team being diverse. (Article has a major error btw.)http://www.latimes.com/sports/dodgers/la-sp-dodgers-diversity-20171008-htmlstory.html …

I think people mean there are less Mexicans/Mexican-Americans on the team. There’s Urías, who’s injured, and there’s Gonzales who’s _______.

But there also Austin Barnes. Like.... look at him. Every time he went up to bat I was like this dude’s gotta have some color in him.

Add Austin Barnes to the list. His mom, Stephanie, is Mexican-American. His uncle is Mike Gallego from the Oakland Athletics.

There’s also Andre Ethier, whose mom is also Mexican-American.

We need diverse sports writers. People that understand this city, what diversity means, what it looks like in the LA imagination, etc.

Would have been so dope to have a story about this from LA during the World Series. (And not one that got it wrong like the LAT article.)
