I just got off the phone with Benjy, who’s back at home... very dizzy, especially when standing, but managed to explain what happened to me. It started Saturday night when Benjy says two latino men asked for raspados.
As soon as Benjy took money out to tender the change, the men brutally assaulted him. The last thing Benjy remembers is getting hit in the neck. He was knocked out cold. Firefighters came to his rescue and he had to be hospitalized overnight and into Sunday.
Benjy is back at home and resting. He told me that everything hurts. He’s trying to sleep and recover. He shared this photo with me that he just took from bed. The bandage is covering a huge gash on his head.pic.twitter.com/Du7dbZ2B3w
I’ll keep you posted as I learn more. In the meantime: THERE IS CURRENTLY NO FUNDRAISER for Benjy Ramírez. This was an issue last time. And I ask that you do not take what I tweeted and pretend it’s your own reporting (which also happened last time); this includes photos. Thanks
Just saw this on the news. What a wonderful community.
I want to see that show on Whittier Bvd.!
