Can we talk about how climate change disproportionately affects poc yet? Those least affected hold a possessive ownership over the concept.
You're saying US as if we're all the same here. Do you understand the fundamental different between a white person and a black person here?

-
Do you have any idea what it means to be an undocumented immigrant here? People terrified of evacuation bc they don't want to be deported?

I do. I've lived in the US most of my life, including 10 in LA. I know some of the authors of those asthma studies. Not trivializing it all.
-
Ok, cool.

If you lived in LA under cap-and-trade, you'll know that it hasn't been any solution to communities of color. We're about to...
-
... open the largest oil refinery in the west here soon, and it's in a community of color, like all the refineries are.
-
Obvs cap-and-trade and carbon tax are different, but they both rely on market solutions that perpetuate climate and environmental inequity.
-
The twist is the redistribution I added. Pretty simple really: we all share the atmosphere, and have the same right to pollute it.
-
So. I understand this concept better than you're assuming. I'm indigenous and have talked and written about climate debt for a long time.
-
Our solutions aren't based in throwing money at the problem, but in thinking about social policies aimed at paying down the debt.
