Those least affected certainly bear most responsibility, but rest is catching up, and a solution must involve most people. China knows this.
-
What do you mean when you say "rest is catching up"?
-
A fair solution might be a CO2 tax levied at source, with proceeds distributed world-wide on a per-capita basis.
-
Nah. Carbon tax only perpetuates inequity by giving everyone money, including the least affected.
-
Hmm, based on current consumption of energy, what I proposed would lead to massive redistribution of wealth toward those most affected...
-
I may have misunderstood your response. That said, carbon tax is a so-called solution proposed by white people that decenters poc.
-
How is an extra $200 a year a solution for those of us with asthma who live next to oil refineries? It's not.
-
U r right. What I'm proposing would address global climate change and global inequality. Local inequality is a different matter.

The problem is the non-POC are who Trump appointed to positions where they can deny climate change exists. They need to be gone first.
-
No. What I'm tweeting about is white liberals who accept climate change but pretend climate inequity is doled out equally.
-
Ah. Thanks for clarifying. Yes, that is something which needs improving, all right.

What are the main steps you think need to be taken?
-
As far as media generally, and climate/enviro pubs specially, black/native/latinx need to be hired as writers and eds.

The anti-climate change people don't care about the poor. Or about the middle-class. Or polar bears. Just oil, gas, $$$.
-
I'm referring to whites who accept climate change but pretend people of color aren't the ones already bearing the brunt of its destruction.
-
I saw that, sorry if you felt hijacked. I am scared witless for the poor who live on islands or the low-lying areas that the rich avoid.

I'll never forget you saying "Environmental racism is woven into our society’s fabric."

It was from an interview with Vox's Victoria M. Massie on
#NoDAPL.
