@kdeleon's SB54 would do just that. It identifies the areas in which local cops, jails, and prisons cooperate with ICE and stops it.1 reply 9 retweets 13 likesShow this thread -
SB54 was already amended to incl what are called serious and violent felonies. But new amendments proposed by Gov
@JerryBrownGov go further.1 reply 5 retweets 7 likesShow this thread -
I was leaked a copy of Gov
@JerryBrownGov's amendments to SB54 and outlined what's at stake here:https://theintercept.com/2017/08/28/jerry-brown-sb54-california-sanctuary-state-ice-prisons/ …1 reply 11 retweets 9 likesShow this thread -
Because it's unconstitutional, California no longer holds detainees for ICE. Gov Brown's proposed draft amendment allows it in a new way.

SB54, a bill that's supposed to make Cali a "sanctuary state," includes an amendment to hand more people over to ICE than it does now.

It's not just that: Gov. Brown's amendments would maintain the status quo, where local cops and sheriffs essentially do ICE's work.

@kdeleon has an opportunity to get a bill passed that would really resist Trump's terror against immigrants. But....1 reply 2 retweets 5 likesShow this thread -

@kdeleon hasn't made clear whether he'll accept Governor@JerryBrownGov's amendments to SB54. The amendments are due today.1 reply 3 retweets 5 likesShow this thread -
Whatever
@kdeleon does with SB54 will not only affect immigrants in California, but also in states that will copy our legislation.1 reply 1 retweet 5 likesShow this thread
Will California senate leader @kdeleon's SB54 truly create avenues to resist Trump, or will it be a gift to Trump and his terror? We'll see.
