Someone brought me a bag of @Guayaki "yerba mate." I put it in the only place it belongs: the garbage.

Aside from tasting ***horrible*** and nothing at all like actual yerba mate, the name Guayaki is offensive in and of itself.

Guayaki is a slur used against Ache people. It means rabid dog. It's one of the worst words you can call an indigenous person in Paraguay.

A whole bunch of white dudes went to South America and... became yerba mate experts supposedly improving the cultivation processpic.twitter.com/oL1fjy5EX8

Yerba mate isn't exactly sacred to my people but we know how to make it just fine. Guayaki has "improved" what we been doing 1000s of years.

Imagine going to a place you know nothing about, telling people they're doing yerba mate wrong, naming a company after a racial slur.
