I guess I just wonder if denouncing the person over and over in theway it played out ended up advancing any particular good.

I think some people (specifically, black people) thought it was a particularly good thing to call out Sacco's racist statement.

well...definitely some black people did, but there were an awful lot of white folks doing so as well...

and ultimately the person who benefited most seems to have been Jon Ronson, who got a book deal and lots of gigs...

It's absurd to blame people who justifiably denounced Sacco's racism for Ronson's success.
