A couple of people have mentioned they no longer ask, "How are you?" I still do, however. It's important for me to ask.

In my people's language only way we can say hello is by also asking how you're doing: "mbae'chepa!" Same for a lot of indigenous languages.

I totally understand why people don't want to automatically ask, "How are you?" I hope you understand why I still do.

I think people understandably don't want ask because it's just automatic, "Hey, how are you?" The answer is invariably not good. @eaefremov
