On the anniversary of Emmett Till's lynching, so many non-black folks assume they would have stopped it. That's not true, tho.

I know it's comforting to and think: 1) things would have been different had I been around then and 2) things like that no longer happen

But the fact of the matter is that you would have made the same excuses for not centering black lives 61 years ago that you do today.
