Let's be real: undocumented people who are arrested risk deportation. Yet http://democracyspring.org has exactly zero things to say about this.

An arrest at the
#DNC could even mean grave consequences for *documented* immigrants—people with green cards aren't in the clear. -

I don't know who's organizing the http://democracyspring.org
#DNC direct actions, but I'm going to take a guess that it's mostly white folks. - 2 more replies

I liked when Occupy events had options for risk-awareness. Feel like that helped let events be representative.

As a woc, Occupy Wall Street was a nightmare for me. I was physically attacked by a white organizer. On video. No on cared.

I was about to add that there were a firehose of other problems. Participated minimally, mainly with an ignored safer spaces org

Ugh I'm so sorry that happened to you! Safer Spaces org had very little support, I think we were kept around for show.

there's an option that reads "I commit to show up in solidarity at the DNC, but cannot risk arrest."
-
Right, but it doesn't explain what the stakes are. Too many people don't understand the risks, and none are listed here.

I see. I'm hoping when they sign up with their information DS informs them thoroughly.

from what i noticed at last protest they do that to keep u seperate, pledged r in front & they give u different info

It's unconscionable to encourage people to get arrested unless you also explain the consequences of doing so.
