Speaking from personal experience: seeing these antebellum glorifications to Calhoun and slavery was a horrible part of my Yale experience.
I can't even imagine what it's like to be a black student or a black worker at Yale's Calhoun College and pretend like everything's ok.
Corey Menafee did what so so many students thought about doing: desecrating these symbols of slavery that Yale holds so dear.
If anyone happens to know Corey Menafee of New Haven, please let me know. I'd like to see if he wants to set up a donation link to help.
Corey Menafee faces a felony charge for smashing a racist symbol at Yale's Calhoun College. Be at the courthouse on 121 Elm at 10a Tuesday!
