Why are you publishing that ICWA is a "Native American Law," @Eli_Fieldstadt? It's a US federal law.pic.twitter.com/VRogSNVbQr

There have been a lot of ways white people have tried to eliminate natives, including through disease, captivity, blood quantum, adoption.
Before ICWA was passed into law, white people were adopting out nearly all native children in some states. Here's why that's a bad thing:
When you take a native child, you take away not only their ties to that tribe but also the tribe's ability to literally keep existing.
If a tribe has 500 babies and whites adopt out 400, what does the next generation of the tribe look like? And the one after?
These racist, inaccurate, shit for articles about ICWA is what happens when you have all-white newsrooms. It's 2016. Hire poc. Hire natives.
@aurabogado @xodanix3 it's not shocking that white media outlets r framing the #SaveLexi case as a kidnapping/ICWA as a Native American Law
@aurabogado @xodanix3 the ICWA isn't really taught 2 anyone. Not even social work students. There aren't harsh sanctions 4 not abiding by it
@aurabogado "Hi, I know nothing about the situation, which is why I'll be reporting on it for a major news network."
