Pro tip: if you allow known predators in a space, the possibility of it ever becoming safe is vanished. CC @AlliedMediaConf
@ty_ushka My personal experience was with one person from the safety team who was fabulous—but they weren't making the ultimate decision.

@ty_ushka I think the problem came from the top. I got a lot of defensive excuses that still feel rough when I think about them. -
@ty_ushka As a consequence, I plan to never return. I'd rather participate in spaces that make no claims about safety, you know? -
@aurabogado I dj'd a party that was guaranteed a safety team for a space that AMC picked (1)

@aurabogado yes I'm not talking abt individuals. But overall structure of safety within spaces in regards to events, harmful individuals etc -
@ty_ushka And the thing that happened Friday sounded AWFUL. Just horrid. -
@aurabogado yes, was terrible. particularly as s/o hired to curate/dj music but wasn't involved logistically or given any info on the space -
@ty_ushka I've also had people reach out and tell me about prior experiences. The whole thing is a mess. And dangerous as a result. -
@aurabogado also for god's sake- why did Amc recommend a white veterans bar with American flags and guns on the wall? - End of conversation
