I want to hold a little space here for non-black people of color. Mostly rhetorical questions, but feel free to weigh in.
-
-
More directly, to my fellow non-black people of color: how anti-black are your friends and families being at this moment?
-
And, as non-black people of color, do we find moments like these provide fertile ground to confront friends and family's anti-black racism?
-
I'm just going to add a quick note that most of the non-black people of color choosing to participate right bow are women. Like always.
-
As non-black people of color, what resources do you use to talk to friends and family about anti-blackness?
-
What charts, infographics, exercises, etc, do non-black people of color use to confront anti-blackness in our families?
-
And are any of the resources about confronting anti-blackness in our families available in Spanish? Tagalog? Mandarin? Hindi? Arabic?
-
Because, personally, this is where I always get stuck. I can talk, talk again, and talk some more. But my family wants things to look at.
-
Personal favor: any anti-blackness infographics or cartoons in Spanish or Portuguese, please send them my way.

@aurabogado I'm talking to my family. I slowly introduce these things to my mom (Spanish speaker) in times when it's not in the news -
@zenenjaimes Do you find your mom is more receptive then?
-
@aurabogado Yes, especially when she connects it back to struggles she faced as an undocumented woman. -
@zenenjaimes It's good that you know the best times to approach!
-
@aurabogado TY! It was hard at first. We shared many tears when discovering how much anti-blackness had been instilled into us.

@aurabogado Texted my nbpoc relative in Baltimore to see how things were going. They seemed frightened by nearby fires, so I didn't push. -
@rebelwerewolf That's understandable. We have to recognize when the beat times are to have these conversations.
