What's up with East Coast reporters writing about California's drought like they don't also consume the food that's grown there?

@aurabogado my understanding is this is about drastic increases in the frequency and longevity of the droughts? -
@hailu That's part of it—and u don't mean to celebrate the current drought in any way. But the writing on it's been :/ -
@aurabogado oh your aim is the slant "silly wasteful californians and their golf courses". Yeah i live in MA and eat trop. fruit in Feb. -
@hailu Not that I'll defend a golf course, but yes: a lot of people enjoy California's water.

@aurabogado You obviously are talking about So Cal. You all have been stealing and importing your water from N. CA and Colorado way too long -
@MaestroGaeta This is an arbitrary division that conveniently fails to mention how much water the Bay Area gets from the Hetch Hetchy. -
@aurabogado It's obviously not as much an issue when rich white people are doing the stealing. -
@aurabogado I should say taking more than their fair share. I'll reserve "stealing" for when a place/community has been grossly exploited.
