So... I wanna tweet with nbpoc in particular ( tho black folks are also welcome to this conversation) about the Harvard rejection letter.

I posted the Harvard rejection letter which I thought was hilarious. But now, after a friend reached out to me about it, I'm re-thinking it.
-
For starters, yes, I know the letter is fake. I never for a minute assumed that Harvard would write a rejection letter like that.
-
But I didn't consider the actual author, who is a white teenager who actually applied to Harvard in real life, too.
-
This white teen made up this rejection letter for her school newspaper—and is now upset that it's gone viral since she also applied IRL.
-
You know what's actually upsetting? The fact that this white teen created a rejection letter solely based on black culture and stereotypes.
-
And you know what's also upsetting? The fact that non-black people of color like me are eating that shit up right now.
-
This is one the ways in which anti-blackness works: we non-black people of color consume stereotypes like it's a joke. We find it funny.
-
I might go ahead and remove the Harvard rejection letter from my timeline. But for now, I'm going to leave it for reference.
-
More than 40 people have RTd the Harvard rejection letter form my TL. Many of them are nbpoc. I hope you RT what I'm tweeting now, too.
