It gets worse: this is what Patricia Arquette said in the press room.pic.twitter.com/f4NcDkpqgZ
For starters, since when have white women been fighting for people of color?
And what does Arquette's statement mean for queer women of color who have had to fight to simple survive?
This is why intersectionality is so important: Arquette's statement assumes I don't exist. And that shit feels violent af.
Arquette's original statement, made on stage for like 40 million people, also contained anti-immigrant overtones, talking about citizenship.
There's also a context here: one in which people are claiming that black lives matter. And here comes Arquette with, "Well, actually...."
Add to this the fact that Arquette likes to "dress up like a chola" and I'm just done. Absolutely done.pic.twitter.com/UtINlLVt4E
"The truth is even though we sort of feel like we have equal rights in America..." Umm, no again, Arquette. We don't feel like that.
@aurabogado and if someone uses the opportunity of having that kind of stage she REALLY needs to be called out on errors, I agree.
