And what does Arquette's statement mean for queer women of color who have had to fight to simple survive?
This is why intersectionality is so important: Arquette's statement assumes I don't exist. And that shit feels violent af.
Arquette's original statement, made on stage for like 40 million people, also contained anti-immigrant overtones, talking about citizenship.
There's also a context here: one in which people are claiming that black lives matter. And here comes Arquette with, "Well, actually...."
Add to this the fact that Arquette likes to "dress up like a chola" and I'm just done. Absolutely done.pic.twitter.com/UtINlLVt4E
"The truth is even though we sort of feel like we have equal rights in America..." Umm, no again, Arquette. We don't feel like that.
Since when they were leveraging suffrage to combat the vote of the newly freed blacks in the nation... Oh wait... @aurabogado
@aurabogado I wonder if Patricia includes her trans sister Alexis when she is talking about fighting for women.
@aurabogado did she really fucking say that?
“@aurabogado: For starters, since when have white women been fighting for people of color?”
@aurabogado @ToriJayFerrell when they their white empress Susan B Anthony said she'd rather not vote than see the "mongrel negro" vote
“@aurabogado: For starters, since when have white women been fighting for people of color?”
Not today please

@aurabogado I'm not black or gay, and I fight for them, too. Oppression comes in many forms and they ALL need to be fought actively (2)
