This is a time when we are mourning the premature death of black people. It shouldn't be a time to politically capitalize on that death.
There are so many more things I want to say about this image, who created it, how it's being used. But y'all are brilliant. Break it down.
@aurabogado Michael Brown's death should not be used as an advertising opportunity. His death and Black lives stand on their own,
@aurabogado i dont find anything wrong with it. The same oppression and racism leading to his murder by authorities oppresses immigrants too
@aurabogado while it may be manifested differently, it is all generated from America's disdain for black and brown people
@KeithEricBenson Thanks for reaching out. I don't think we're going to agree here, but I'm considering what you're saying.
@aurabogado that actually has a space in mainstream political conversations. Anti black genocide? who covered the we charge genocide deleg?
@aurabogado and if we really wanna try and collapse these things, however sloppily, people actually acknowledge and talk about immigration.
@aurabogado exactly. We can do better. That is my hope. We have to do better. Anti black genocide is not to be used for a platform.
@aurabogado we are not equal. Our struggles are not equal. And don't dare anyone come in w the Olympics term.
