It's bad enough @Expedia tricks people into paying double what they thought they would. Now, they won't even give me an answer. Should I expect a refund a book a different room? Keep waiting to hear from them until everything else sells out? This feels like a ridiculous scam.

Update:
@Expedia refuses to issue a refund for the $109 fee. I booked with them for years. Never again.Show this thread

I've never heard of Expedia adding a ckeaning fee before. WTF
-
I've never seen this when I booked Expedia and would love to hear what hotel it was if you can share.
-
Same. It seems very suspicious that Expedia would take it upon themselves to add a cleaning fee without the hotels knowledge. Even so, that definitely should have been disclosed up front.

@Expedia why should potential customers trust that this won't happen to them? Adding on fees at checkout is misleading at best.Thanks. Twitter will use this to make your timeline better. UndoUndo

Tag the hotel too. Unless you're a rock star, trashing rooms or smoking in a non-smoking room... average people don't see "cleaning fees" on their room charges.

I'm telling you, expedia is just the worst. I just purchased a room at one price, entered in my information, and then bang, they charged me $30 more. Wouldn't have you expected a confirmation page with all fees listed and the price settled? Guess they're not traveller-friendly.

So sorry about this! I had a similar experience w them a yr ago - charged double what we’d booked for a trip. I had to resort to telling the mgr that I’d contest the charges w my cc since they were clearly fraudulent as we had receipts. That finally got action from Expedia.

Sounds like Expedia didn't tack on a cleaning fee...the hotel did. If you have your original paperwork, contest it with the card company. Any charge should be clearly documented and advised in the fine print.

@Expedia sucks. I stopped using them last year. They will take your money and then no responsibility when something goes wrong. All of a sudden, they are a “third party” and all hands off after your order. Useless. They are not worth whatever discount you may get from them.Thanks. Wait, what cleaning fee? Never heard of that apart from Airbnb. Why do they refuse?
