Ab 15 years ago I found a sassy frog at Rite-Aid & got it to my brother. Then for years after any time I came across a frog I’d get it for him.
@edawerd never really liked them but bc he had so many ppl thought he loved/collected frogs & started to give him frog sculptures too

Domestic abuse isn’t an issue of gender...will be a destructive loss if we abandon the originating principle against violence for a proxy of it

One of the pros of walking up those Thiebaud Steep Streets is that the high slope sort of reduces the incline of walking in heels. Don’t recommend walking down hill though...you’re basically en pointe

“One day," you said to me, "I saw the sunset forty-four times!" And a little later you added: "You know-- one loves the sunset, when one is so sad..." "Were you so sad, then?" I asked, "on the day of the forty-four sunsets?" But the little prince made no reply.pic.twitter.com/HAmSXeArhN

Not saying tech is perfect, but I think if we want to make it better, the path isn’t best made by tearing each other down, rather celebrating/amplifying the good to pull people towards change instead of goading people w fear into further insulation & normalizing bad behavior

I really admire and appreciate
@weschan who instead of jumping in for female friendly kudos, or finger pointing of who is bad and who is better, just goes about investing in the great people he finds, and then keeps having the highest unicorn to investment ratiopic.twitter.com/m1MbfDBIMB

Also, my experience in tech has been wonderfully positive, of course not without some troubles, but certainly way better in terms of meritocracy and care for women than (surprisingly) when I was doing work with the UN

I saw stats somewhere (but can’t find) ab how metro ticket sales increased more w campaign saying something like “most people buy train tickets” than when a campaign threatening punishment was run, which makes me think highlighting/celebrating good behavior is more effective

That being said, I’ve also seen how protective they get when an “outsider” joins in on the insult, and it makes me happy bc it reminds me of how siblings and friends can gripe about each other, but if an outsider does they’re like “WHAT’S U SAY?! DONT U DARE TALK AB MY BROTHER”

I noticed on twitter there’s lots of girls in tech hating on tech, which is often funny but I don’t think the most helpful bc it seems ppl are more likely to do “good” behaviors if they believe it’s the norm & painting a hostile environ to women will deter women from coming in

If you ever struggle with “problem behaviors” like losing your temper, feeling like you have to be perfect, procrastinating, people-pleasing, or hating yourself, I highly recommend the book Complex PTSD: From Surviving to Thriving.

What is the math involved that makes the decision to have those cross walks signal “walk” and “red light” on all sides so people can walk the hypotenuse more efficient than “walk” on one side at a time?
