Even when I open up about just how grim our industry is, it isn't cathartic. It is more depressing, as the person says "wow you are right".
@michaeldinn a) blind b) mis-representing your experience as 90% do c) overly-optimistic (e.g. apply to be a Disney princess)

@attritionorg I'm not overly optimistic at all. It's a near impossible battle. but it can be won. -
@michaeldinn 20+ years in IT, you say "it can be won". please... outline your hypothetical plan for how that works. -
@attritionorg It took years, and a whole discipline called Engineering with a standards body. IT needs the same sort of thing. -
@michaeldinn guh i hate to bring it up but your argument demands it. 9/11. the towers were supposed to stand, per engineering. they didn't. -
@attritionorg No system is perfect - that's just a given. do you have a better suggestion? -
@michaeldinn i am not the one saying the "battle can be won", you are. don't try to flip this back on me. -
@attritionorg Fair statement. points for you. I don't know what the fix will be for many of ITs problems. Without effort, they don't improve
