I’m looking for blogs focused on the issues undocumented people in tech face. Can you recommend anything?
@hypatiadotca @ashedryden wouldn't it be obvious they didn't blog then, if undocumented in a manner that may risk deportation?

@attritionorg but that's mostly me being like "oh fuck if I jaywalk I'll totes get sent back to Canada". -
@hypatiadotca right but we know jaywalking != violating the spirit of the work visa grant. -
@attritionorg it is literally a thought that crossed my mind tho. It really put in perspective how much of a mental burden being undoc'ed is -
@hypatiadotca imagine it is a burden most of us can't begin to understand, no argument. also can't imagine them up and revealing themselves -
@hypatiadotca 1 article. NY times. again, non-starter. -
@attritionorg what would you consider the burden of proof that people do talk about this stuff, if not the nyt? -
@hypatiadotca apples and chinchillas. nothing to do with 'burden of proof' that it appears in a single high-profile mag. - 1 more reply

@attritionorg I definitely freak out a bit at the opsec implications of ppl blogging publicly about their experiences being undocumented... -
@hypatiadotca "there is an under-representation of people that blog about their experience doing$crime" = a non-starter to me. -
@attritionorg I suspect we diverge pretty far on immigration stuff, "I'd like to read" is a different thing from "$foo is underrepresented" -
@hypatiadotca how else do they represent that? they are concealing a crime essentially. why do either of you expect that info to be public?

@attritionorg@ashedryden youd be surprised - many DREAMers hv written stuff publicly, and people can always blog anon or via a human proxy. -
@hypatiadotca@ashedryden ok.. then finding said blogs would be more of a challenge. either they are represented and not searching right...
