Ouch! Say it ain't so @datalossdb and @attritionorg -- http://theleakingvault.com/ -- Really hope there is another side to this. (via @kylemaxwell)
@kylemaxwell @loon This was not just about the report. That was one facet of her usage of the data. She forgot to mention on her blog.

@attritionorg@kylemaxwell@loon How about rather than you folks grip about her use of data, you two agree to publish the report together? -
@lpingree@kylemaxwell@loon How about you scold her for not mentioning that *we suggested that* in her one-sided rant? -
@attritionorg@lpingree@kylemaxwell@loon It wasn't mentioned on the call. I sent it in email after we'd hung up (to Barry). -
@SuzanneWidup@lpingree@kylemaxwell@loon You beat us to the punch then. It was being discussed that day already on our side. -
@attritionorg@SuzanneWidup so wait, you're mad that she didn't say her idea was your idea because you were already thinking about it? -
@kylemaxwell@SuzanneWidup Oh please, quit being a fan boi already. The point is the idea of releasing her report co-branded WAS brought up. -
@attritionorg@SuzanneWidup funny you call me that - I have been an Attrition "fan boi" for years (and still love that project). -
@kylemaxwell@SuzanneWidup While I appreciate that, your last 24 hours on Twitter have been very pro-Widup and very anti-us. - 2 more replies

@attritionorg@kylemaxwell@loon We disagree on the term commercial. The research is free, the preso was free. DFA has no sponsors. -
@SuzanneWidup@kylemaxwell@loon You over-simplify it. DFA has commercial income. "The research is free" is the #1 excuse we hear. -
@attritionorg@kylemaxwell@loon DFA's slight income is from membership. Our orgs were founded for similar reasons--to foster research. -
@SuzanneWidup@kylemaxwell@loon Income is income. Using "free" research (based on our laborious work) to gain members/income is commercial. -
@attritionorg@SuzanneWidup@loon wait, so any income at all makes something commercial? -
@kylemaxwell@SuzanneWidup@loon It depends, thus our contact and wanting to discuss the full usage. -
@attritionorg@SuzanneWidup@loon it seems to me you took a very hard line before knowing the facts, though. -
@kylemaxwell@SuzanneWidup@loon Seems to me you are taking a very hard line without knowing all of the facts too. =) - 4 more replies

@attritionorg@loon in the sense of the DFA or her employment? -
@kylemaxwell DFA and at least one other usage (potentially). Her statements of what I "knew" about payment are also completely wrong. -
@attritionorg Also: this is a compilation of public data, isn't it? Do you have an ownership interest in that? -
@kylemaxwell A database of cataloged public information is copyrighted actually. We also add information ourselves, so yes. -
@attritionorg@kylemaxwell That's fine, but I think@datalossdb should be more open that you're contributing to a commercial product. -
@bfist@kylemaxwell How so? Several companies license our data, some for "free" reports. Some credit us, some don't, their choice. -
@attritionorg@bfist don't volunteers gather a substantial portion of the data? or do we misunderstand? -
@kylemaxwell@bfist As another example: http://bit.ly/WkjUGJ note the top all-time contributors. 3 OSF officers, 3 RBS funded... - 4 more replies
