The right is just as much at fault for this as the left. The industry is full of libertarians and conservatives who don't speak up even when they're in a position to do so. The longer they continue to stay silent, the worse it will get.https://twitter.com/LaurieSegallCNN/status/938036799187718145 …

You're a software developer. Labor isn't abundant. There are companies who will hire conservatives and libertarians. If you don't feel comfortable enough to speak up when you're making more than 90% of Americans and you have an in-demand skillset, when will you?

i never talk about my political opinions at work because i don't want to get in trouble. unfortunately, paying my bills is currently more important than talking about this kind of thing.
-
I don't talk about my political opinions either...unless a political discussion is started. Then I speak my mind just like they did.
-
even then, i just ignore and don't say my opinion. and i'm not even conservative! same with "diversity" discussions -- i just refuse because i know my opinions are not mainstream and i don't want to get cold shoulders from coworkers.

Yeah, pick your battles. But I'm addressing people who are complaining in private. You can't complain if you don't say anything.
