"photoshopped my face onto a sexualized image of Wonder Woman without my consent" The sexualized image here is...an image of Wonder Woman.https://twitter.com/peggyrayzis/status/925789953937805313 …

It's a whatever the fuck she thinks it is! This is not your decision!
-
That literally makes no sense. How is a code of conduct supposed to be enforced if it's defined by each attendee?

how is it up to you? it's her talk and her image, not yours.
-
I never said it was. I'm opening it up to be defined since the definition is obviously not clear.
-
Each person has agency over how they wish their image to be used and what they consider appropriate or not.
-
In this instance, the onus was on the organisers to ensure their speakers were comfortable. Not on the speakers to go along with everything.
-
What is considered “sexualised imagery” is dependent on so many personal and cultural factors, that it’s hard to define.
-
When you are using someone’s image, it is up to them to declare if something is appropriate or not. Not for you to decide for them.
-
Want to portray your speakers as superheroes? Ask them first. And then, perhaps, you can get them in superhero poses, rather than photoshop.

Imagery associated with female superheroes is hypersexualized. It's not up for debate.https://www.scientificamerican.com/article/the-problem-with-female-superheroes/ …

For myself, I'd used Justice Potter Stewart standard. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/I_know_it_when_I_see_it … But I certainly would not want a prude to set the standard.

A well-known conference speaker wore this shirt on stage for a talk. Would this not be considered a sexualized image? CoC violation? Yes/no?pic.twitter.com/sdz2Xym4u5

That’s my feeling too.
@peggyrayzis, in light of your experience, any thoughts?
