So it’s weird when I hear so many WIT say they had an interest early on but due to their gender, they weren’t encouraged to keep going.
Same here and for many others. If parents saw their 12 year olds writing HTML, they probably looked at it as a fad. Not the future.
Note the majority of Neopets users are girls. One of the ways I believe @JamesADamore suggested to increase appeal of coding to women.
Capitalizing on existing interests and showing how tech is used accordingly is much better than throwing money at STEM scholarships.
